Abus has been providing people, businesses and cyclists with safety solutions since 1924, making our lives a little safer.
Abus Nordic operates in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland, and has over 80 employees in offices in these countries.
The challenge
Ole Eghøj is an internal IT consultant at Abus Nordic and works in the department, which he says, handles everything that is electrically powered, such as audio and video, IT or telephony.

Abus Nordic was looking for a unified communications solution that could meet the needs of their Nordic organization of over 80 employees. At the same time, colleagues in different countries wanted to be able to manage their own networks locally.
– We needed to bring all colleagues together in the same solution so we could see who was available and easily transfer calls. We couldn’t do that with our previous communication solution.
Ole was tasked with finding a new telephony solution and checked out several different providers, but found none that he felt worked for them. At the time, Ole had not heard of Telavox.
– Then “that annoying salesman” called and said we should talk, and we did.
The solution
Abus had already listed its internal requirements before the meeting with Telavox.
– I knew what I wanted and we had many requirements. It was a process to see if it was the right solution and if Telavox was the right one, for example if we could get the coverage we wanted.
A common solution for the whole Nordic region
– One crucial thing was that with Telavox we could enable the solution for our entire organization in the Nordics with a single cloud switch. In fact, that was the whole idea of the switch, which is why it became Telavox.

A network that covers the whole Nordic region
In the countries where Abus operates, they use different network providers. They wanted to continue with these to get the best possible coverage in both urban and rural areas. It was important for them to be able to continue using these, and that was something that Telavox could fix.
– Another important benefit is that colleagues in each country were able to keep the provider they knew could offer good coverage.
Users are in control
– We have seen many improvements since we switched to Telavox,” says Ole.
Among these, Ole lists that users have a great deal of control and flexibility compared to their previous telephony solution.
– Now we can give our users more flexibility to set their own opening hours, voicemail messages, and more. It’s really cool.
It is clearly ideal to be able to see who is available, connect calls and chat with colleagues across the Nordic region.

The result
– The new switchboard solution allows us to collaborate between our Nordic countries on a whole new level. The interface is very user-friendly and has given us much more freedom and flexibility.
Ole also says that onboarding and support have gone smoothly.
– We have now been using the solution for six months and we have no regrets. If we had any problems during the start-up, we just had to talk to our contact at Telavox who solved it quickly.
– The best thing about Telavox is that it is a solution that meets our needs. It’s fantastic and I’m very happy,” says Ole.
